Frequently Asked Questions
What does Airific masks protect from?
Airific Masks advanced technology protects you from >95% of particulate matter, contaminants and >99% of bacteria & viruses.
What is the Airific mask made of?
The Airific is a 3-layer mask.
In the middle layer, we use an electrospun nanofibre filter infused with antibacterial additives to trap even the smallest airborne particles. Our exclusive nanofibre captures all airborne particulates and are certified to filter down to 100 nanometers(0.1 micron) with a 99.7% filtration efficiency.
Nanofibers are incredibly small fibres – thousands of times thinner than a human hair. Nanofibers form a spiderweb-like structures which have an advantage over conventional or even natural filters due to their massive surface area, large pore numbers and tiny pore size. Each mask filter is estimated to contain over 25km of nanofiber in an area less than 1mm thick’
The inner and outer layers are made of all-natural fabrics namely cotton, linen, hemp and flax.
Why did we use a nanotechnology filter in a mask?
Coronavirus particles are spheres with diameters of approximately 125 nanometers, or 0.125 microns. We needed a filter media that can filter down to 100 nanometers or 0.1 micron – that leaves nanotech as the only option!
So two reasons:
- Highest filtration efficiency for virus, bacteria and particulates (PM2.5)
- Lowest breathing resistance – this is very important as comfort is key to wear the mask for 6-10 hours per day – the new normal.
What are the safety procedures for handling a mask?
You have to wash your hands with soap/sanitizer before and after you touch your mask. Only touch the mask from the ear loops to wear and remove it. Avoid touching the outer or inner face of the mask as it may be contaminated. In case you do come in contact with these surfaces, please wash your hands with soap, or use hand sanitizer immediately.
How to disinfect the Airific mask from the viruses?
- Using a UV sterilizer
- Sunning the mask in the day or airing it in a fanned room so that all the moisture on the mask is dry will kill any virus.
Keep in mind that washing a mask does not sterilize it.
Do we need to disinfect every time even if we use Airific mask for an hour or less?
If you have been in a crowded space, then you must disinfect after every use, irrespective of the length of time of usage
How do we identify that Airific mask needs to be discarded?
You will find it difficult to breathe with it – the breathing resistance will become high.
What is the process for disposal?
Disinfect following above process and dispose
What is the life of Airific Mask?
Airific masks offer life up to 200 hours use in conditions up to 300 AQI. In lower IAQ conditions, the life of mask will be extended.
Where do you need to wear your Airific mask?
Well, pretty much everywhere, once you cross the Laxman Rekha of your home. We now know from recent studies that a significant portion of individuals with coronavirus lack symptoms (“asymptomatic”) and that even those who eventually develop symptoms (“pre-symptomatic”) can transmit the virus to others before showing symptoms. This means that the virus can spread between people interacting in close proximity—for example, speaking, coughing, sneezing or even breathing — even if those people are not exhibiting symptoms. Considering this new evidence, CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores, offices, schools and pharmacies).
Essentially, you must operate with the assumption that every person you share a space with is infected, and vice versa. Each one of us has a significant role in flattening the curve. Be safe!
