Coronavirus : Will Face Masks protect you from the CoronaVirus?

Coronavirus : Will Face Masks protect you from the CoronaVirus?

by Prashant Paul on Jan 31 2020
If you're healthy, a N95 respirator will prevent you from breathing in particles that contain the virus. And if you're sick, a face mask will help prevent you from spreading the infection to others. But if you're not wearing them correctly, that protection is thwarted. For many years, scientists weren't sure if wearing a mask was effective at preventing the spread of viruses. However, recent studies suggest that they can help. ... They found that family members reduced their risk of getting the flu by 70 percent when they washed their hands often and wore masks. Flu viruses travel through the air in droplets when someone with the infection coughs, sneezes or talks. You can inhale the droplets directly, or you can pick up the germs from an object — such as a telephone or computer keyboard — and then transfer them to your eyes, nose or mouth. Flu masks may help block airborne germs, and they may also prevent the transmission of germs from your hands to your mouth or nose. Bottom line, folks with weakened immune systems (due to disease, medications, or transplants), and healthy folks, should have a mask handy in case they find themselves in a confined space with another person who is coughing. The Airific masks by Nirvana Being are lab tested with a Viral Filtration Efficiency(VFE) of greater than 99% tested by Nelson Labs, USA. It is also the first and only reusable Indian mask to receive a CE certification for a community mask – the highest standard for non-medical masks in the World! Buy Now
Why N95 is a Better Choice for Pollution Protection Than N99?

Why N95 is a Better Choice for Pollution Protection Than N99?

by Nirvana Being on Apr 19 2019
Air pollution has become a reality that we all have to live with. We just can’t wish it away nor can we avoid it. After all how long can you remain locked in your home or office? Air pollution is not restricted to outdoor air pollution, indoor air is just as bad as outdoor AQI. Indeed it is next to impossible to imagine a life that is completely restricted to indoors, even if we purify our indoor environment. The situation becomes worse in winters when heavy air hangs low and enters our lungs, which is why we must protect ourselves. The only option we have is to wear mask to protect from air pollution. As the awareness about the ill effects of pollution is rising (did I tell you that high PM 2.5 levels can cause serious chronic ailments like heart and lung problems, kidney and liver malfunction and even cancer in the long run) many companies are coming into the market selling pollution masks. No doubt these pollution masks work especially if you have to remain in heavily polluted areas or commute through congested roads but not all of them give an equal amount of protection. Some work well while others don’t. So which one should you go for is a million dollar question. The two popular certifications for respirator masks are N99 pollution masks and N95 pollution masks. So which one should you buy? The number refers to the percentage of polluted PM2.5 that the mask can filter out. The N95 mask filters out 95% of dust and particulates. The N99 masks will filter out slightly more (4% to be precise) polluted particles but N95 pollution mask offers 50% lesser breathing resistance than N99 filter mask. It means you can wear the N95 mask for longer duration without feeling suffocated. If you’re in an area with poor air quality levels, wearing an N95 pollution mask is the best way to protect your lungs and overall health. Built to filter out dangerous particles, the N95 anti-pollution mask is a better way to breathe clean air and stay healthy.   They are better than the N99 pollution masks as N99 respirator mask makes breathing a bit difficult. So people over 60, pregnant ladies and children are advised to wear the N95 anti-pollution masks. Many health providers recommend highly efficient N95 filter class especially for those mask wearers who are young, active or have impaired lung function. Here is a word of caution, if you have a respiratory or cardiac condition, N99 anti pollution masks can make it more difficult to breathe. If you have any of the following conditions then N95 pollution mask would be a better choice:   Breathing problems Emphysema Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) Asthma Cardio-pulmonary problems All in all, this blog must have cleared your confusion about getting either of the N95 or the N99 respirator mask. As most of us looking for a good mask to avoid pollution, the N95 pollution mask is the best choice. In contrary to the N99 anti-pollution mask, the N95 offers better longevity and breathability in day-to-day conditions. Buy Now
How To Improve Indoor Air Quality In Your Home?

How To Improve Indoor Air Quality In Your Home?

by Prashant Paul on Jun 29 2018
Sometimes the danger that can be seen and realized is not that harmful than the one lurking in the dark for which you are not even aware. Well, I am not talking about the suspicious guy in your home, I am talking about a far more dangerous element in your home – the air you breathe! That’s right your home air could be far more dangerous than the pollution outside. At least the outside pollution is visible – the dust from construction site, smoke from vehicles, etc. and so one can at least avoid it or take some remedial measures but inside your home there are so many things which make your home highly polluted and toxic which can give you and your family members a number of deadly diseases. The culprits could be the lead in your wall paint, radon gas creeping from your ground, your pet’s dander, VOC from stored cleaning agents, the kitchen smoke and so on the list goes on. These can be detrimental to human health and cause respiratory diseases, kidney ailments, and even cancer. So, what to do is the million-dollar question, quite literally as you may end up spending your hard-earned money on the treatment. First of all, do a mental audit of your home. Just think of any peculiar smell that makes you uncomfortable, the cracks in your ground from where radon leaks in, stored cleaning agents and so on. You could buy a Laser Egg Air Quality Monitor, device that monitors the air quality indoors. It is small enough to fit in your palm but very effective and accurate in telling you the PM 2.5 levels -the particulate matter less than 50 microns present in your premises. Laser Egg Air Quality Monitor India is one of the most elegant and precise instrument to measure the indoor air quality. Buy Now If the air quality of your home is in danger zone, then it would be a good idea to buy an indoor air purifier for central air purification of your home. Apart from that, you could take a number of steps. To begin with, improving the ventilation in your home; how often your windows open and do you allow smoking in your home are some important questions you must ask yourself. Do you store huge quantities of cleaning agents because it makes sense to buy them in bulk? Don’t save on that, if you must store it in open area like your rooftop, balcony etc. Next thing to do is to improve the performance of your kitchen smoking outlet. Even after these precautions you indoor quality does not improve then it is highly recommended that you buy an air purifier which can take care of your central air purification, especially if you have old people or children at home. Go for strong exhaust or heavy-duty electric chimney that should take care of your lot of respiratory problems which are caused due to smoke. Smoking should be avoided at all times indoors. Plug in the leaks in the ground and walls and maintain 30 to 50% humidity in your home, too little or too much moisture is certainly not good for your health.
Understanding Indian Air Quality Index(AQI)

Understanding Indian Air Quality Index(AQI)

by Nirvana Being on Apr 30 2018
As we know, India’s air quality index has been worsening due to increasing industrialisation and deforestation in many regions. In an attempt to make air quality measurement easier to understand, the ministry of environment and forests launched a National Air Quality Index (AQI). Air quality index of India will put out real time data about level of pollutants in the air and inform people about possible impacts on health. Government have added five more components to the new measurement process of AQI in India: Particulate Matter 2.5, ozone, carbon monoxide, ammonia and index classifies air quality of india simply as good, satisfactory, moderately polluted, poor, very poor, and severe. Each band is represented by a colour code to visually express the level of severity that people can grasp easily.  The lead In India, air quality index will cover AQI of Indian cities like Delhi, Agra, Kanpur, Lucknow, Varanasi, Faridabad, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The index will be later expanded to 46 more cities having a population of more than one million, besides 20 state capitals  Eight pollutant have been taken into account to calculate AQI in Indian cities.   Nitrogen oxide Sulpher dioxide PM2.5 PM 10 Ozone Carbon monoxide Ammonia Lead What is Air Quality Index India? The AQI in India has been developed by the Central Pollution Control Board in consultation with IIT-Kanpur and an expert group comprising medical, air-quality professionals and other stakeholders. To understand what is air quality index India, we need to know about particulate matter. They are Also known as particle pollution or PM, is a complex mixture of extremely small particles and liquid droplets. Particle pollution is made up of a number of components, including acids (such as nitrates and sulfates), organic chemicals, metals, and soil or dust particles. They can come in almost any shape or size, and can be solid particles or liquid droplets. While analysing India’s air quality index, we divide particles into two major groups. These groups differ in many ways. One of the differences is size, we call the bigger particles PM10 and we call the smaller particles PM2.5. BIG. The concentration of these particles in the air of different cities determines the air quality index of India. The big particles are between 2.5 and 10 micrometers (from about 25 to 100 times thinner than a human hair). These particles are called PM10 (we say "P M ten", which stands for Particulate Matter up to 10 micrometers in size). These particles cause less severe health effects. SMALL. The small particles are smaller than 2.5 micrometers (100 times thinner than a human hair). These particles are called PM2.5 (we say "P M two point five", as in Particulate Matter up to 2.5 micrometers in size). Here is a little guide about these particles and how they influence the air quality index of India. Particulate Matter and Air Quality Index in India: The PM2.5 is particularly dangerous and can cause adverse health effects owing to its greater penetrability into the human respiratory system and eventual accumulation in human organs and blood. Rural women, children and elderly population are more prone to diseases caused by air pollution. Rural women, in particular, face a greater risk from indoor pollution — locally made mud stoves fuelled by solid biofuel emit a far greater amount of finer particulate matter. India’s air quality index depends on the different area’s local emissions, long-range transport, local and regional weather patterns, and to some extent the topography of the region. Due to increased buoyancy and efficient ventilation in summer, pollution plumes rise effortlessly to the free atmosphere. This leads to a reduced level of surface level PM2.5 concentration in our breathing zone. The problem gets aggravated during winter that worsens the air quality index in India. Adverse conditions during winter help trapping of pollution leading to elevated level of surface PM concentration. Compared with peninsular India and coastal regions, the situation is far worse in the Gangetic Basin, especially during winter months. The Himalayas act as a barrier to dissipation of pollution plumes emanating from the cities located in the Basin. As a result, AQI of Indian cities in the Basin are more prone to sustained bad air quality While the National Air Quality index in India has created greater awareness of air pollution amongst the masses, there is a need for more concrete action to reverse air pollution. Overall, the air quality index of India is an important parameter to measure the extent of pollution across the country due to rapid industrialization.

Am I inhaling more CO2 by wearing a Vogmask?

by Nirvana Being on Nov 10 2017
There is a myth going around that you inhale more CO2 than oxygen when you wear an anti-pollution mask like the vog masks – by re-breathing your exhaled air. For this reason, folks have ruled that it is unhealthy to wear a mask. Right or wrong? Absolutely wrong!! And you should definitely buy n99 vogmask. That said, to clarify, I’m going to evaluate the mask layer by layer: Filter: The Vogmask anti-pollution mask has an N99 filter with active carbon layer which prevents all the dirt and pollutants from entering into your lungs. Better out than in, right? So, ten points to the vogmasks. Valves: The Vogmask anti-pollution mask comes with a single or double exhalation valve. This is a one-way valve that shuts when you inhale air through the media filter, and it re-opens when you exhale the air – to release the exhaled CO2. With the vog mask on your face, at most, you have 40-50ml of space between your face and the mask. With each breath, you inhale and exhale about 500 ml of air. So, at most, you are re-breathing 50ml of air or 10% of your inhaled air. Another, ten points to vogmask that come with exhale valve .According to specialists, this is good for developing higher lung function - like a training mask, as seen in the movie Pink. So, a vogmask come with exhale valve is for your own good. Doctors actually recommend masks that RE-circulate CO2 for athletes to improve their lung function and performance capability. Conclusion: Not only does a Vogmask protect you from harmful pollutants, it also helps you to develop higher lung function. Why Buy an Air Quality Monitor?

by Prashant Paul on Nov 10 2017
Sometimes we fail to see the obvious. We know that the air quality around us is not good, yet we do nothing about it. We shrug off the studies that suggest that contaminated air indoors is a great health hazard. We ignore the articles informing us about the ill effects of the bad air quality in our homes as some kind of gimmick. If you’ve read (and I am sure you have) that poor IAQ is the cause of childhood asthma and mental illness, or that air pollution is the single largest environmental health risk according to the World Health Organization, you still ignore it as a problem that could affect somebody far off not you. If you haven’t got the best home air quality tester, you might be at the risk of several respiratory illnesses. Not sure where and why to buy air pollution monitor yet? This blog will clear your doubts. The Need for Portable Air Monitoring Device Before you buy air pollution monitor, how about I give you a simple test, and if it applies to your home, you definitely need to do something about the air quality around you. Do you use room freshener? If the answer is yes then certainly there is something wrong with your home’s air. But using room freshener is no solution, as it can suppress the bad odor but it can’t make the air better. The World Health Organization has mentioned that PM 2.5 is one of the biggest threats to human society. PM2.5 particles have the capacity to travel deeply into the respiratory tract, causing short-term health effects such as eye, nose, throat and lung irritation, coughing, sneezing, runny nose and shortness of breath. Long exposure to these fine particles can also affect the lung and heart function. Until now we couldn’t monitor the air around us as the professional air monitoring devices weren’t only costly and bulky, but also needed some level of training to use them. Earlier, when people used to buy air pollution monitor, it would be mostly expensive and cumbersome to carry and operate. But things have changed and now air monitoring devices are not only cheap and portable but also give accurate results. Thankfully, you can find the best portable air quality monitor easily without burning a hole in your pocket. Which is the Best Portable Air Quality Monitoring Device? Best Anti-Pollution Mask for Bikers in India

by Nirvana Being on Oct 28 2017
We all know that air pollution has severe effects on bikers’ health. The amount of bad air they breathe while on the bike is much more than the person who commutes by walk. Most people think that air pollution is only dirt and smoke but the truth is something else. The real culprit is PM2.5, it’s the fine particulate matter that is about one-thirtieth the diameter of a human hair. These tiny particles are able to penetrate deeply into the respiratory tract, reaching the lungs. When one exposes to these fine particles, it can cause short-term health effects such as eye, nose, throat and lung irritation, coughing, sneezing, runny nose and shortness of breath. Here’s when pollution mask for bike riders come to the rescue. Even if you aren’t familiar with anti-pollution face mask for bikers, read further to learn more about its significance and how these bike pollution masks work. Long exposure to fine particles can even affect lung function and worsen medical conditions such as asthma and heart disease. We all know that condition of air is much worse in India than any other place in the world. That’s why it is highly important to wear the best anti-pollution mask for bikers in India if you are someone who commutes daily by bike. Please don’t get confused by any ordinary mask as they won’t be able to protect you from PM2.5. The only effective anti-pollution mask for bikers in India is an N99 mask which gives protection from particles up to 0.3 microns up to 99%. The second important thing is the valve of this special pollution mask for bike riders. Thus if you see pollution masks for bike riders with no valves, you must avoid them at all costs. Anti-pollution mask for bikers in India which don’t have any valve is practically useless as valves help you to breathe easily during riding. How to fight the sick building syndrome?

by Prashant Paul on Sep 16 2017
The Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) is not about the sickness of buildings. It is about the health of the residents of that building. When most people living or working in a building feel discomfort and feel relieved when going out of it, the SBS is present in the building. In other words, there is something wrong about the air quality of the building which may be due to the design of the building or due to other factors present in the building. The phrase has become part of urban vocabulary as the indoor air quality in cities has become a health menace. Most of us are under the wrong impression that the outdoor air quality is the only cause of various diseases caused due to air pollution. The fact of the matter is that indoor air quality is equally responsible for the various diseases like asthma and even cancer. Most of the city dwellers are inhaling the indoor air for the most part of the day oblivious to the fact that the indoor air is toxic and is the source of many dangerous pathogens and chemical compounds that go straight into our lungs. The reason for SBS is simple. If the building does not have proper ventilation the stale air keeps circulating and adding contaminant over time. Many sources of toxic air are present in homes and offices like cleaning agents, cracks in the wall (that cause radioactive Radon gas seep in from ground), kitchen smoke and even pets. All these add up to make the air unclean and toxic indoors. Indore air quality did not figure in the priority of building designers. Most architects until recently cared little for proper ventilation. They would have other considerations such as security and energy efficiency as priorities and so did their best to give as little ventilation as possible. It was only recently that professionals and people began to seriously consider the implications of IAQ that directly affects health and quality of life and the greater environment. SBS typically occurs mostly in buildings that have one or more of the following: Poor or inadequate ventilation; Unsuitable temperature and humidity; Airborne and chemical pollutants entering the building freely; Storage of high concentrations of total volatile organic compounds No plants or trees in the vicinity (indoor or outdoor) Inadequate ventilation for kitchen smoke. Proximity to a busy road or high, drain, or a construction site. In the past few decades, energy conservation measures have led to green buildings, which call for airtight building construction that can create problems with IAQ. Frequently, the ventilation systems are set to minimize the amount of fresh air entering and circulating within the facility. This restriction impacts indoor air because it allows a build-up of harmful pollutants and contaminants in the office spaces, flats, and apartments. Home Air Quality Monitors must be used to assess the impact of indoor air on the residents To ensure that sick building syndrome is not present in your premises, monitoring of indoor air quality is very important. Only by proper monitoring, the indoor air quality with Best Indoor Air Quality Monitor, the impact of contaminated air on the residents can be evaluated. There are many air quality monitors in the market but my favorite is a half egg-shaped shaped ‘Laser Egg’ Air Quality Monitor which is very accurate, sleek and portable enough to fit into your palm. Laser Egg Air Quality Monitor is marketed by Nirvana Being, a reputed company that is in the business of providing instruments and devices that ensure clean air and water. Its products are available on its website https://nirvanabeing.com. It is one of the best air quality monitor available in the market today as it accurately measures PM 2.5 levels in the premises and is energy efficient and goes well with your stylish interiors. It is one of the Best Indoor Air Quality Monitor in the market.

Why you should invest in an Air Purifier?

by Prashant Paul on Sep 08 2017
There is an interesting fact about frogs. They do not notice the gradual change. Take a frog and put it in a pan of water and light it with low flame. The poor thing would boil to death as it would not notice the simmering heat and gradual rise in temperature. That’s stupid we all would say. Though we have sympathy for the Frog, its insensitivity to the changing environment is unpardonable. Well, we humans are smarter. Aren’t we? Think about it once again. Are we really smart or stupid enough to cut the branch we are sitting upon? Think about the rate at which we are polluting our water bodies and poisoning our air and we don’t even give a damn about it. So are we not just like the Frog in boiling water? Thanks to our carelessness and apathy towards our own planet we are living in a mess. We are destroying our basic necessities of life. Air pollution has become a grave reality and no wonder within few years there would be pure air cylinders on sale in your daily needs store. But what can we do? We are all informed thanks to the media about the various ill effects of air pollution yet nothing is actually being done to stop it. There are a lot of different reasons for this - rapid construction, and the widespread destruction of trees, vehicular exhaust, burning crop stubble in farms, burning trash in cities, and so on. All this is enough to give us asthma, cancer, heart attack, lung, and kidney disorder. And while there might be some long term solutions to these problems, the fact is that just as most of us have gotten used to living with water purifiers in our homes; it is time to accept Air Purifiers in India too. Indeed that is the only way we can live a healthy life in cities where PM 2.5 levels are often four times than the permissible limits. The indoor air that we breathe most of the time is as contaminated as the outside air and in fact, is more injurious to our health as it keeps circulating endlessly in poorly ventilated houses and apartments. Indoor air quality can actually be worse than the air outside. The WHO states that benzene, carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, naphthalene, nitrogen dioxide, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, etc are known for their hazardousness to health, and are often found indoors in concentrations of concern to health. Another good test of the poor air quality in your home is to check if you are affecting by frequent seasonal allergies. If yes then yes you need an air purifier. If there is even a single person in your family who is asthmatic, you need an Air Purifier. If you have children in a house with underdeveloped immune systems, making them particularly susceptible to air borne pollutants, or if someone in your house is pregnant then yes my friend you need a good air purifier. Airgle CHEPA filtration provides superior removal of airborne particles. Certified to filter ultra-fine particles down to 0.3 microns, and with an efficiency rating of over 99.991%, our systems deliver exceptional performance. So should you invest in Room Air Purifier? I would say immediately if you care for your health and the health of your family.

Say No to Your Second-Hand Smoke

by Nirvana Being on Sep 01 2017
I love to live in my second-hand smoke – said no smoker ever Second-hand smoke or passive smoking is something which exhaled from a smoker’s lungs or from his cigarette. Can you imagine spending an hour in a room filled with thick smoke? I can’t. Trust me, there is no risk-free exposure to your second-hand smoke. It’s dangerous to you even for a brief moment you invest in it. Your second-hand smoke does not only raise your risk of getting allergies, asthma or heart diseases but also increase the risk of kidney cancer, brain tumor, and cervical cancer by 30%. Maybe right now it sounds nothing to you, but it’s true that inhaling even the slightest amount of your second-hand smoke can bring significant changes in your blood, blood vessels, and heart rhythm. Now you can do various things that might help with your second-hand smoke like; opening windows, breathing exercises, steam baths, healthy food intake, etc. But are they that effective? The truth is these solutions have their limits, and can’t really be enough to get rid of every particle of that eerie second-hand smoke. Hence, you will need air purifier for second hand smoke. So, how can an air purifier help remove the second-hand smoke? You may know how an Air Purifier works, and that it helps in removing mold, pollens and allergy generating molecules from the environment, but did you know that it helps in removing your smoke from the air as well? Well if you didn’t then surprise! Your air purifier is not less than a superhero with second hand smoke filter in it. The HEPA filter (works as the second hand smoke filter) and the activated carbon are the two superpowers that your air purifier uses to eradicate smoke from the air. So, air purifier for second hand smoke is a big YES.   HEPA filters are actually the filters that were originally designed for scientist and doctors to prevent them from any chemicals reaction and emission. These filters are tested to remove any particle range from between 0.3 to 99.97% microns. So, these are basically the best when it comes to wiping out any effects and odors from your second-hand smoke even before they spread in your room. So, HEPA filters are a great second hand smoke filter to ensure safer breathing. Incorporating these filters in air purifier for second hand smoke, will make the air cleaner for breathing. The activated carbon, on the other hand, is extremely porous and can absorb almost anything which passes through it. So, while the HEPA filter plays out its role, activated carbon helps it to smoothly execute its act. So, if you can’t stop smoking then at least play smart and get an air purifier with a second hand smoke filter to stop living in your own second-hand smoke. Looking for an air purifier second hand smoke filter? Then Nirvana second hand smoke filter will be an excellent choice for your home. Nirvana second hand smoke filter are available at reasonable prices given the amazing benefit it offers. Made from HEPA filter technology, the Nirvana second hand smoke filter are effective in removing the smoke and let you and your family, breathe better and safer. So, get your Nirvana second hand smoke filter today and ensure clean air at home.

How Air Pollution is Affecting Your Fertility?

by Prashant Paul on Aug 25 2017
The issue of Air Pollution is as real as you can think, and now it’s haunting our future. Yes, you are reading it right. Air Pollution is the worst thing that a human could create for himself. Almost everything on this earth is affecting badly due to bad air, but most of all it’s affecting our future. Let me make myself a little clearer: Air Pollution can cause infertility in both men and women. According to a research conducted from 1993-2003 by Boston University School of Medicine, Women who lived within 200 meters or about a tenth of a mile from a major highway were 11% more likely to experience infertility issues. So, does this mean that women who live near highways are the only one who is affecting due to air pollution? Sadly, NO! The truth is our cities are not safe anymore, thanks to traffic, construction sites, factories, and even as little as your gas cylinder which you use every day for making your food. The evil is living inside your house and you don’t even know about it. Air Pollution is not only affecting women but making significant changes in the semen quality of men also. If you are living in an area which is heavily populated or is in close proximity to the main road – you may want to relocate. If this is not an option, buy an Air Purifier is a device which removes any dust, pollen, smoke or allergens from the air in a room. Out of Active and Passive, Passive Air Purifiers are the best and affordable ones. It comes with a combined technology of an ionizer, electrostatic, carbon, and HEPA-grade filter, which does not produce external ozone. Passive Air Purifiers are basically the best to do the job, and when the risk is this high, you simply can’t rely on anything but the best.

Do we need a pollution mask in India?

by Prashant Paul on Aug 17 2017
Though there is growing consensus among the scientists that the pollution is emerging as one of the major global problems and should be tackled on the priority, there is little or no effort on the part of the governments to tackle it with a sense of urgency. Mostly it is a knee jerk reaction and the steps taken are rather cosmetic. The result is that the pollution levels are rising with every passing day and people are paying the cost with their health. The diseases caused by inhaling polluted air are on the rise. Indeed it is time for us to take the matter into our own hands and do something about it to protect ourselves. Indeed we need a pollution mask so that at least we can minimize the effect of pollution when we walk out of our homes and straight into the gas chamber that our cities have become. The Air Quality Index (AQI) level is measured for six pollutants that are responsible for ill health. The one pollutant that can really cause a lot of damage to human health is called fine particulate matter, or PM2.5. This pollutant is not easily digestible in the human body and can penetrate deep into our bloodstream. When PM 2.5 level gets too high, it is recommended that individuals should wear a Mask. The World Health Organization has found that the safest dosage of PM2.5 in a 24-hour time period is approximately 25 ug/m3. This is an AQI score of roughly 30. Any more exposure than this in a 24-hour period can lead to serious lung or respiratory issues, and even cancer. Wearing a pollution mask is your only protection against such diseases. Though there are different standards set by different governments and organization, it is generally held that wearing a mask should be recommended when the AQI score exceeds 200, or a PM2.5 concentration of 150 ug/m3. This scale is allowing 6 times more PM2.5 ug/m3 exposure in a 24-hour period than is recommended for healthy standards set by the World Health Organization. In Delhi, the PM 2.5 level is around 400 ug/m3 on normal days in winter! Indeed we need a mask and that too of a good quality which can prevent the PM 2.5 from entering our system. Indeed there are many masks available in the market but most of them are neither tested nor designed to give you protection against the PM 2.5 level. At best they can filter dust and smoke or in some cases bacteria, but do not provide any protection against the PM 2.5 The one pollution mask that is effective and sleekly designed to fit you is Airfic Anti Pollution Mask which is an N99 Mask available in India. It perfectly fit the bill and now they are available in India on our online store nirvanabeing.com. What differentiates them from other products is that they are available in different colors and designs and look better than the plain white industrial looking ones. Vogmask respirators are N-99 rated, which means that they filter an average of 99.978% particulate matter (PM2.5), which is an improvement on N-95 masks. Make sure that you select the ones that are N-99 rated and marked CV; C stands for activated carbon filter which absorbs pollutants like ozone and sulfur dioxide and also filters out unpleasant smells while V means that the model has an exhaust valve which prevents condensation from building up. Vogmask is CE and FPP2R certified, which means it is reusable and washable too. However, there is a word of caution; an anti-pollution mask like N99 Mask should be used carefully if it is to be effective. It is important to ensure that the mask fits well on the face otherwise it will be useless. Also, remember to read the usage instructions carefully.

What to look for in a water bottle with filter?

by Nirvana Being on Aug 04 2017
Water is the elixir of life. Indeed no one can live without drinking water. But today people are dying by drinking water. Thanks to our recklessness we have made safe drinking water a luxury and polluted our water bodies. Even the filtration provided by civic bodies in India is unsuitable for drinking. It is contaminated and unfit for human consumption. Bacteria, viruses, and pollutants can affect the water, and if you drink it, you could become ill immediately or, if the contamination is undetected and you drink it for a long period, you could develop chronic health issues. Primarily there are four types of contaminants that can enter your drinking supply: microbial pathogens like salmonella and dysentery, organic compounds like pesticides and solvents, inorganic compounds like arsenic and lead and radioactive elements like radon. The four major contaminants are: 1. Microbes can make you sick right away. The symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and stomach cramps. The other three types of contaminants usually don't cause any symptoms right away, but they can build up in your system over time and cause problems like thyroid disease and cancer. 2. The Chemical Compounds, both organic and inorganic chemicals such as chlorine, arsenic, fluoride or copper are enough to make us sick in the long run. They cause irreparable damage to our health. Some chemical compounds find their way into water naturally (things like minerals) or artificially. The compounds like fluoride added to water, copper or metal contaminants from plumbing, or even chemical fertilizers and other synthetic chemicals which can leech into water sources are one of the biggest threat to human health and life. 3. Bacteria and parasites are living microorganisms which are present in the water we drink. While most bacteria and parasites are harmless or even helpful, some can have extremely negative health impacts, such as Cryptosporidium or Clostridium which cause vomiting and diarrhea. 4. Viruses are often thought of as similar to bacteria, although they have many key differences. The most important when it comes to filters is the fact that viruses can be tens or hundreds of times smaller than most bacteria. This makes them exceptionally hard to filter and most water filters are not fine enough to remove virus particles. This has led people to make their own arrangement. The sale of RO water filters and other water purifiers has indeed gone up in the last few years as the awareness about the ill effects of the contaminated water is spreading. However, when people travel they find it extremely difficult to get access to clean drinking water. Even the water available in hotels is no guarantee that it is drinkable. Besides, there are a number of spurious packaged drinking water brands that are selling mineral water. Sometimes when a person is traveling by train or car does not have an option but to buy the available mineral water. Many incidents have been reported in which the packed drinking water has been found more contaminated than the tap water. Indeed there is little a person can do in such situation. Thankfully now we have an option. Water Bottle with filters provides an effective means of filtering the unclean water on the go. They are handy, affordable and provide good clean water instantly. Introducing Water Bobble, a self-filtered water bottle. Bobble features an integrated silicone carry cap for an enhanced experience. It has a replaceable carbon filter that removes the taste and odor of chlorine from municipal tap water, resulting in a cleaner, crisper taste. It is free of BP and PVC and is available in 550ml and 650ml size. The Water Bobble instantly filters the water and is great for sports persons and travelers. How to select an effective anti-pollution mask?

by Nirvana Being on Jul 06 2017
We are already aware that the only remaining free resource that we consume in abundance - air – has turned toxic. It is estimated that we smoke 20+ cigatettes per day in Urban India, just by breathing. The most cost effective way to protect ourselves from its ill-effects is an anti-pollution mask. Wearing a mask in India, and especially if you are living in a metro city is no longer an option, but a necessity. Well, all masks are not equal and here are the factors you need to consider to buy a pollution that’s right for you: 1. Filter Since the concentration of carcinogenic ultrafine particles is sky high in urban India – about 10 times the WHO safe level on a good day, we recommend masks with a N99 Filter. The mask also must have an activated carbon filter to filter gases, chemicals and odours. 2. Certification Ensure that the mask that you buy is certified by CE as a Personal Protective Equipment. We recommend EN 149:2001+A1:2009 FFP2 R certification at a minimum. FFP2 is simply a class of respirator for a level of wearer protection. FFP2 implies that the mask reduces the wearer’s exposure to airborne particles by a factor of 10. CLASS FILTER PENETRATION LIMIT (at 95L/min air flow) INWARD LEAKAGE FFP2 Filters at least 94% of airborne particles <8% The R in FFP2 R stands for reusable and certifies the non-disposable and long life feature of the mask. A lot of masks mention conforms to and similar vague language – the mask should have a CE certification mark on the physical surface. 3. Functionality Your search for a perfect mask should include these 3 important factors: validity, effectiveness, and comfort. An ideal mask should last up to 4 months with all its effectiveness. Prefer a mask which is washable and reusable for better comfort and value for money. The R in the CE certification FFP2 R stands for reusability. 4. Fit Possibly the most important factor in selecting a mask. A mask that is ill-fitting will leak air and is practically useless. Make sure that you buy a mask that seals your face completely – so all the air you inhale is filtered. 5. Exhale Valves We recommend pollution masks with an exhale valve since this makes the mask more breathable. Those engaged in activity or using the mask for exercise should consider a mask with 2 exhale valves for added breathability. 6. Style/Fashion Maybe a lesser consideration, however, you are more likely to protect yourself for longer periods, if the mask is stylish and fashionable.
